The evid­ence presen­ted here sug­gests non-symbiotic hemo­globins affect hor­mone responses by scav­en­ging NO. Auxin, jas­monic acid, sali­cylic acid, ethyl­ene and abscisic acid have altered responses when hemo­globins are expressed. Non-symbiotic hemo­globin is a factor dur­ing plant devel­op­ment, biotic and abi­otic stress.
