This summer, Hall Cushman succeeded Mike Jackson as Chief Editor of AoB PLANTS. The new editor is a Professor in the Department of Biology at Sonoma State University (USA), one of 23 campuses in the California State University system. He also serves as an Associate Editor of Biological Invasions, a peer-reviewed journal published by Springer. Prior to joining the faculty at Sonoma State, Cushman was a postdoctoral fellow at Imperial College (UK), Macquarie University (Australia) and Stanford University (USA).
Although his interests encompass all aspects of basic and applied plant biology, Cushman’s research focuses on plant ecology, with particular emphasis on biological invasions and plant–animal interactions. His research is strongly field-oriented and relies heavily on the use of long-term experiments to address questions at the population, community and ecosystem levels. Cushman’s work has been published widely in peer-reviewed journals and has been supported by a range of external grants. In 2010, he received the Goldstein Award for Excellence in Scholarship from his home institution.
Cushman is excited about the opportunity to serve as Chief Editor of AoB PLANTS during the next phase of the journal’s development and will be posting frequent updates to the AoB Blog. Please feel free to email him (email@example.com) with questions or comments about the journal.
