This study examines pectins to understand the changes in cell wall structure associated with the transition from algae to land-plants.
A new series of blog posts aims to present vignettes of current plant science research within a broader remit of promoting the importance of plant science.
How, in molecular terms, does the vital interaction between pollen pollen and pistil work?
Aluminium (Al) toxicity is one of the factors limiting crop production on acid soils and various resistance mechanisms have evolved in plant species. Cell-wall pectin content is generally lower in Al-resistant than in Al-sensitive cultivars, and the degree of methylation of the pectins may play an important role in resistance.
